Alaska Traditional Transition Skills Curriculum
The Alaska Traditional Transition Skills curriculum project goal is to improve the quality of life, connection to local community, and increase work related skills for teens and young adults with disabilities who live in rural Alaska. It provides tools teachers can use to incorporate traditional values and knowledge into Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Transition Plans. Though each chapter of this project ties to the cultural values and topics of a specific region of Alaska, the skills can be used and adapted.

New Certificate in Disability Rights, Policy, and Services (C-DRPS) at Indiana University
A new graduate certificate program, the Certificate in Disability Rights, Policy, and Services (C-DRPS) has been introduced at Indiana University Bloomington because of a partnership between the School of Education, School of Social Work, and the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community (IIDC). The C-DRPS program provides students the opportunity to explore critical concepts impacting the lives of individuals with disabilities across the lifespan.

Inclusive Postsecondary Education (IPSE) Day
On May 15, 2022, the IOD and UNH-4U celebrated Inclusive Postsecondary Education (IPSE) Day. IPSE Day is a day to raise awareness and spread the word about inclusive postsecondary education (IPSE) options for students with intellectual disabilities. IPSE means that students with intellectual disabilities can go to college, regardless of their test scores and high school diplomas, just like their peers and siblings.

Think College Awarded US Department of Education Grant to Increase Access to and Visibility of Inclusive Post-Secondary Education Programs Nationwide
Congratulations to ICI's Think College and partners for accepting a $5.9 million three-year award from the US Department of Education Office of Postsecondary Education to expand their remarkable work of translating and disseminating research and best practices on inclusive post-secondary education for colleges and universities across the US.

iGROW - New Funded Grant
The "I Generate Rural Opportunities for Work" (iGROW) Project is a one-year pre-employment and leadership-training program for students with disabilities who are currently enrolled in middle school and high school (ages 14-22). The purpose of the program is to provide a training environment to support students with disabilities to gain the necessary skills and experiences in work readiness in order to successfully transition into postsecondary education and/or competitive integrated employment.

Post-Secondary: Moving Minnesota Ahead
Federal law creates college opportunities for students with intellectual disabilities, but Minnesota lags behind on that promise. Working with ICI staff and others, MN LEND fellow Sally Sexton returns to ICI to develop a website promoting post-secondary education options for students with intellectual disabilities. Updates from the CU Pediatric PT Residency Program
The University of Colorado Pediatric Residency is a post-professional physical therapy residency program of the University of Colorado Physical Therapy Program in the School of Medicine and JFK Partners. The residency was established in 2011 under the Founding Director, Mary Jane K. Rapport, PT, DPT, PhD, FAPTA, and it received initial accreditation in 2012.

Show-Me College to Build Better Resources for College-Bound Students with IDD
More and more students with intellectual and developmental disabilities are going to college, thanks to legislation like the Individuals with Disabilities ACT of 1975 and the 2008 Higher Education Opportunity Act, which authorized the creation of comprehensive transition and postsecondary programs, and made financial aid available. The Show-Me College website is being developed to provide information and resources about college-going opportunities in Missouri for students, families, educators and counselors.

Congratulations to Mrs. Melina Cavazos on her passing dissertation Defense on a topic about school psychologists' involvement in transition planning
Mrs. Melina Cavazos will be graduating with her doctoral degree in school psychology from Texas A&M University in December 2021. She has just defended for dissertation titled Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) Involvement in the Assessment and Planning of Postsecondary Transition in Texas.

PATHS Program Begins their First Semester and First Day of Class as a 2-year Certificate Program
The two-year PATHS certificate program prepares graduates for employment in a career serving people with disabilities or working with children. Students have begun their first year and are excited to get started. After spending a few weeks this summer living in dorms on campus and learning how to navigate the buses and getting around on campus. This semester they are living in housing off campus and taking classes.
